Crystal Bridges & Kansas City
Fall 2016 or Spring 2017

This custom-designed SBMA-exclusive tour begins with two nights in Bentonville, Arkansas, to explore Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, created by Wal-Mart heiress, Alice Walton, to house her exceptional art collection, and see private collections in and around Bentonville.

Continue to Kansas City for three nights to see why this Midwestern metropolis is known for its thriving arts scene. The Nelson-Atkins Museum has one of the finest collections of Chinese art in the world as well as important works by Rembrandt, Van Gogh, and Caravaggio. Its breathtaking new addition, designed by Steven Holl Architects, is an important work of contemporary architecture comprising five sculptural structures that are illuminated in the evening.

Moshe Safdie, the architect behind the acclaimed Crystal Bridges building, also designed a performing arts center in Kansas City.

Meet museum directors, curators, and private collectors on this behind-the-scenes tour.
